Expungement Workshops

New Opportunities in partnership with Ollin Law offers, on a regular basis, to its students, alumni and the community FREE expungement workshops. Expungement workshops are held at New Opportunities community based campuses and are a multi step process in which those who qualify are educated on the expungement process, given free Live Scans on site and are able to meet one on one with an attorney to complete the expungement paperwork. Individuals are able to expunge as many qualifying cases as needed.

Life Skills Workshops

New Opportunities works to regularly offer life skills workshops. Topics that are covered range from Financial literacy, healthy relationships and understanding mental health etc.

Counseling

It is recognized that New Opportunities’ students both inside the correctional facilities and out have a range of unique challenges, which is why all community based campuses have a mental health clinician who, in conjunction with New Opportunities staff, offer counseling and supportive services on an as needed or ongoing basis. The mental health clinicians are also those who facilitate all of the aforementioned reentry services (in-reach and Out-reach) and alternative sentencing program.

Case Management & Referrals

All students and alumni are offered individualized case management and direct referrals to New Opportunities Community partners i.e. work source centers, La kitchen etc. Students and alumni may also meet with New Opportunities counselors for assistance and referrals to life skills classes often required by the court (i.e. parenting, substance abuse, domestic violence, anger management). Additionally New Opportunities counselors can assist to connect students to appropriate psychiatric services and assist those who may be struggling with homelessness.

Through our partnerships with the SBWIB and WIDAC New Opportunities is able to offer individual meetings with an employment specialists to all students and alumni who are interested.
